WOMEN IN CYCLING

Edie Bloomfield

To get to the heart of the problem in women's cycling I researched the different aspects of women's cycling, both recreational and competitive, and also interviewed seven women involved in women's cycling. I interviewed professionals, Brodie Chapman and Tiffany Cromwell, ex-professionals, Loren Rowney and Lisa Jacobs, Irish journalist, Orla Chennaoui, advocate for safe cycling, Emma McInnes and finally, co-owner of a female-friendly bike shop in Surry Hills, Alison McGregor. By researching these aspects and interviewing those seven women I was able to come to my conclusion of what was the main issue in women's cycling - the one thing that needed to improve. Its poor representation in the media.
